An intimate wedding in Italy

INTIMATE WEDDING PLANNING

We are currently receiving enquiries for smaller weddings and elopements for Spring, Summer & Winter 2021 in London and The Cotswolds and one of the questions that we keep being asked is, if couples do choose to have a smaller wedding, how do we make it memorable?

We know first hand, that intimate weddings are incredibly special and there are numerous ideas and suggestions that we have to make a small wedding just as beautiful as a larger celebration. Smaller weddings may have less guests, but we can assure you that this in no way detracts from the elegance of your wedding day.  We are finding that whilst couples may be having to decrease their guest numbers, they certainly aren’t compromising on style, in fact quite the opposite can be said of our couples, who have decided to keep the same flower spend that they had for their original wedding, have chosen to upgrade cutlery, crockery and glassware, as well as upgrading on food, wine and entertainment for a truly memorable day.

Even before micro weddings and intimate weddings were more popular, due to Covid-19 restrictions, some Planned for Perfection couples have chosen to have a smaller wedding with less guest numbers, because they wanted to, not bacause they had to. Katie and Shaun chose to exclusively hire a five-star hotel in Italy for their wedding weekend and all of their wedding party enjoyed a special few days of celebrations in the Italian countryside.

Having received beautiful invitations from On Cloud Nine, guests flew into Naples and the weekend commenced on the Friday evening with an Al Fresco Italian inspired welcome party. Authentic Italian cuisine was served by the pool area and the following day the Bride and Groom said I do in a quaint little chapel, located in the grounds of Aquapetra hotel and spa. More than ever at a smaller wedding, the devil is in the detail and whilst numbers may be limited, style, design and detail is not! A floral walk way directed guests from the hotel to the on site chapel, where hundreds of gorgeous pink hydrangeas and roses framed the door way. The couple were granted permission to marry in the 18th century chapel, where Diana from Grace the Day conducted the most beautifully personalised ceremony.

The bride chose a gorgeous Stuart Parvin designer wedding dress from Carina Baverstock Couture, a designer boutique in Wiltshire. Carina and her team offer the most attentive service, aswell as a collection of the most exquisite wedding gowns and are always a really popular boutique with our style concious brides.

Lisa Elliot floral design created a beautiful tablescape of cascading eucalyptus, olive trees & a pretty tablescape of pink hydrangeas, roses, peonies, and thanks to the event space at Aquapetra, we were able to use one large table to seat all 42 guests, which was surrounded by native Italian olive trees. Three out of four of the walls have floor to ceiling windows, boasting breathtaking views over the olive groves and gardens.

An delectable six-course tasting menu “A taste of Italy” was created by Michelin star chef Luciano Villani for the wedding breakfast. Each personalised menu was written in both English and Italian for authenticity and dinner was served with Falanghina sparkling wine , Greco white wine and Aglianico red wine, made with grapes from the local vineyards in Campania.

Following dinner, guests were entertained by Shamie H, a Swing & Rat Pack Singer from Northern Ireland. The couple had met Shamie at a friends birthday party a few years before their wedding and knew that they had to fly him to Italy to sing at their weekend. From the moment Shamie picked up his microphone, the dancing commenced and continued until the early hours.
