London Wedding at The Savoy Hotel
Luxury London Wedding at The Savoy Hotel
There were many words used to describe Em & Joe’s London wedding – lavish, opulent, stunning, luxurious, beautiful, idyllic, breathtaking .. all of which were true, but the words that we loved hearing after the wedding from the Bride and Groom were that they had enjoyed the best day of their lives and that their perfect wedding day really had been Planned for Perfection!
Emilija and Joseph chose their home town of London as the location to celebrate their Summer wedding in August and when they booked Planned for Perfection, they had a wish-list of three stunning London venues, either The Dorchester, Claridges or The Savoy. The iconic Savoy Hotel, a beautiful five star hotel where ole English Edwardian and Art Deco style is perfectly combined in the heart of Central London, being at the top of their list, as they had first met each other there ten years earlier…
We wanted someone to help and guide us rather than take over our wedding planning and Jane did just that – she outdid herself. She is sweet, kind, thoughtful, understanding and un intrusive, she planned our dream wedding and made it MAGICAL – she is the ultimate fairy Godmother in the Wedding World! ”
Originally from America and Macedonia, the couple had less than eight weeks until their priests retirement, so with wedding guests flying in from all around the globe, Emilija booked our Full Planning & Design Service to plan their perfect London Wedding.
The wedding celebrations began with a traditional Serbian Orthodox Ceremony at St Sava in the leafy London suburb of Ladbroke Grove. The service began with the Betrothal Ceremony and included Serbian traditions of crowning, circling the table, candles and hand holding, the common cup and the blessing. The wedding ceremony was followed by the Christening of Emilija and Joe’s youngest daughter.
The wedding party then travelled to The River Room at The Savoy Hotel, for a Champagne and canapé reception, before moving to the majestic Lancaster ballroom for dinner and dancing. The ballroom is the largest of The Savoy’s banqueting rooms, which was designed by René Sergeant after an 18th century Parisian salon and Emilija fell in love with the room when we first visited the hotel. We initially thought that it was too big for their celebrations, but when I suggested that we split it into three very distinct areas – dining room, dancing & lounging, Emilija was thrilled that by cleverly redesigning the space, she was able to have the room that she wanted for her wedding day.
There is no other way to describe the day, other than a real life fairytale wedding! It was exquisite and the unique special touches that were so important to the couple were so beautiful, here are some of my personal favourites:
A stunning floral ring cushion from Rob Van Heldanto carry two diamond Cartier wedding rings
Exquisite flowers adorned the church – cheekily picked by Em & Joe’s beautiful daughter!
A eucalyptus and hydrangea table plan wedding tree by Rob Van Helden Flowers of London
Traditional Macedonian dancing
