The Manor House in Castle Combe Wedding

The Wedding of Lauren & Oliver

The Manor House at Castle Combe Wedding

Lauren and Oliver booked our Full Wedding Planning, Styling & Design Service for their Summer wedding at The Manor House in Castle Combe. Living in the States, it was important to Lauren to have a wedding planner in the UK to ensure that all her plans and ideas for her idyllic English wedding, were immaculately planned and seamlessly delivered on the day.

Lauren is American and had opted for a fairytale wedding in England, as she was marrying an English gent! They choose to have a traditional church ceremony in Bath city centre, followed by an elegant reception at a stunning country Manor House, which we had hired exclusively for the weekend.

Lauren chose New York printers bella figura to design and print her letterpress wedding stationery

After many months of regular evening calls to San Fransisco (whilst Lauren & I chatted during her lunch break!) I was equipped with all the knowledge that was needed to help design the most perfect day for this lovely bride. The weekend celebrations began with guests being invited to a cricket match on the local village green close to the groom’s family home, on the outskirts of Bath. The match was followed by an informal BBQ, a friendly get together to introduce all of the guests before the big day. As a keen cricketer and rather confident groom, it’s best that I don’t mention who won the match, let’s just say that the American side of the family are now rather keen on this quintessential English past time!!

The wedding was to be a classic Anglo-American affair from start to finish and the hotel even raised the flags of the couples home Countries to acknowledge the joining of two families  – The Union Jack and the Stars and Stripes of the United States, fluttered in the breeze and were united together for this special wedding day.

Lauren and her bridesmaids enjoyed a relaxing morning being pampered by Bath hairdressers Dappa Hair and London make up Artist Sophie Everett, whilst they sipped Champagne – the perfect start to a perfect day! Lauren was one of the most happiest and relaxed brides that we have ever seen on a wedding morning, she was so chilled and the room was full of fun and laughter….  this was her wedding day and she was going to enjoy every single moment of it!

Guests were picked up from the Manor in a traditional London double decker bus and taken to St John the Evangelist church in Bath city centre for a beautiful ceremony. The London bus then returned the guests to the Manor, where they enjoyed a Champagne and Canape reception in the grounds of the house, whist being entertained by Arcosanti Music – a String Quartet based in Bath.

After months of planning, the day itself was simply beautiful and the perfect quintessential English wedding that Lauren had visualised. The wedding breakfast room was elegantly dressed in pastel flowers with a hint of bronze – a sprig of rosemary sat on the white napkins, which were folded around the individual menus and tied with silk ribbon before being placed on to the charger plates, which were hired from White House Crockery, so the room not only looked so pretty, there was a soft scent for the guests to remember.

Lauren’s wedding dress was purchased from Amy Kuschel, a San Francisco based wedding dress designer, the pattern of which was replicated by Curtis and Co Cakes to create a truly unique and personalised wedding cake. Lauren chose as her “Something borrowed” a Vera Wang veil that her sister had worn on her wedding day and the light breeze on the day made for this gorgeous image, captured by photography duo Weddings By Nicola And Glen and videographers Mr and Mrs Productions, who always seem to be in the right place at the right time to capture the most wonderful memories for Planned for Perfection couples!

Kind words from Mr & Mrs Sloane…

Planning a wedding in England while living in California is admittedly not an easy task. Following my first call with Jane, however, my nerves were immediately calmed as I knew she was exactly the one I needed to help select and coordinate with vendors and organize all the logistics for my wedding day. Not only does Jane have impeccable taste, but she has an inherent understanding of what I wanted and how best to work with me. Her approach to planning reflected my own: enthusiastic yet acutely aware it’s the small details that make an event fantastic. I was also overwhelmed by selecting vendors from overseas, and Jane’s suggestions proved to be absolutely wonderful vendors.
A few days before my wedding I asked Jane a question and she replied: “Of course that is possible. It is your wedding and anything is possible.” I believe that response best summarizes Jane; her genuine desire to make your wedding day perfect and her unrelenting efforts to make sure it happens. On the day of the wedding, we had guests from all over the world who have all told me that my wedding was the best they have ever been to. I attribute this to Jane and will always be thankful for her.
