London Wedding at Fulham Palace
We were recommended to Mikaela and her fiancée Alex, by one of our previous brides, Helen who married Adam at Blenheim Palace in 2015. After just one reassuring call, gorgeous Mikaela christened Jane her “Wedding Fairy God-Mother” and a year of wonderful wedding planning commenced.
Mikaela and Alex met at University & having lived together for a few years in London, chose Fulham Palace as the location of their London wedding. The palace is located just minutes away from their home in Putney and is surrounded by gorgeous botanical gardens, which made it the perfect location for their wedding celebration.
Alex and his grooms men got ready at home, whilst Mikaela, her mum and bridesmaids in the Penhouse suite at The Chelsea Harbour Hotel and spent a relaxing morning, being looked after by Hair and Make up Artist Gemma Sutton before stepping into her stunning Pronovias wedding dress.
The ceremony took place in beautiful All Saints church in Fulham which has the nicest vicar that we have ever met, in all our years of wedding planning! The church is just a short walk from the Palace, an historic house and gardens in the heart of west London. The brief for the wedding was white, greenery with a little bit of bling! Mikaela’s love of sparkle was apparent from our very first meeting and the newly weds being showered with gold confetti cannons as they entered the marquee, is a wedding day memory I will never forget! Weddings by Kirsty and her team of magical flower fairies built a beautiful floral arch at the entrance to the church, dressed the alter with two stunning pedestals and lined the aisle with pretty pew ends.
Following the ceremony, guests walked through the palace gardens and made their way to the court yard where Bovingtons caterers erved the brides favourite Champagne and a delicious selection of canapes. Niche London String Quartet played for the guests during the reception and guests were surprised with a special performance of a South African Dance group to incorporate the Brides South African Heritage.
Having marquee in the centre of London is a luxury; a blank canvas to dress however you wish and it was such a joy to style this gorgeous space with the incredibly talented team at Flowers by Kirsty. We brought the outside, in with a sophisticated and timeless colour palette of white and green, mixing high and low table centres with beautiful hanging installations. Florals and greenery were in abundance, including arches for doorways and suspended hoops, all creating a sophisticated elegance in the Palace marquee. Touches of gold added that little bit of sparkle that is so Mikaela and miniature bottles of Sipsmith’s gin were placed on each wedding guests place setting – a nod to the gin distillery, where Alex popped the question. The couple chose Sunburst design from The Foil Invite Company for their wedding invitations and on the day stationery and so we incorporated the touches of gold metallic throughout the day, including on to the three tier wedding cake baked by Jens Cakery.
Following the wedding breakfast and cake cutting, guests moved from the marquee into the Palace and once the newlyweds had their first dance, everyone was eager to join them on the dance floor in the Great Hall and celebrated into the night with Effect Events & The Wedding Smashers.
Thank you to a truly fabulous creative team for helping me to ensure the most perfect wedding day and to Weddings by Nicola and Glen & Mr & Mrs Productions for capturing the most wonderful memories for Mikaela and Alex, who we hope enjoy a married life full of love, laughter and lots and lots of sparkle!
